Having water front property can be an ideal place to live. It can also provide some challenges in the building process, which was the case for this home. With required setbacks from the Ordinary High Water Mark (OHWM), steep slope, property lines, and septic system directly influenced the shape of the homes footprint. Careful attention was paid for Aging-in-Place and Universal Design to accomodate an aging parent. Another major focus of the design was to allow a lot of natural light to help offset the long gray seasons we experience here in the Northwest. This was done through the use of large windows, skylights, and highly reflective materials.
