Located in the Birch Bay watershed, this custom residence will be completed in Spring of 2016. The clients came to us desiring a simple cottage with natural finishes throughout. They wanted a home where the structure was a main point of expression throughout. The exterior is clad with Alaskan cedar which turns a beautiful natural silver color as it ages. The interior features exposed beams and wood surfaces throughout.
The site is sloped, with views of Birch Bay below. Upon entering the site from above, the carport gives way to a welcoming entrance with a wooden door and large overhang which serves as protection from the rainy northwest weather. The three bedroom, 2 bath home is well connected to the outdoors with multiple outdoor spaces and views.
Because the site is located in a watershed, a lot of energy was put into onsite stormwater management. In order to decrease the impervious surface on site, the driveway is being constructed with Truegrid Pavers- allowing water to directly seep into the ground.
